Questions & Answers

Frequently Asked Questions

If your question isn't answered here, call Asheville Massage and Wellness at 828-373-9797 and we'll talk it through.

Your first visit

01

What happens during my first massage?

Your session at Asheville Massage and Wellness takes place in a warm, quiet room, on a table designed for your comfort. Your therapist leaves the room while you undress and cover yourself with a clean sheet or towel. Soft music may be playing.

Ask your therapist about the technique before you start. During the session they'll move you gently or tell you what they need, like lifting your arm. Most people close their eyes and relax. Speak up any time you want more or less pressure or another blanket.

02

How should I prepare for my first treatment?

Before your appointment, tell Asheville Massage and Wellness about any health problems you're experiencing and any medications you're taking. If you're under a doctor's care, we strongly advise getting a written recommendation for massage or bodywork before your session. Depending on the condition, approval from your doctor may be required.

You can pass this along when you book, or by calling 828-373-9797.

03

Can massage help with chronic pain?

Massage and bodywork can help release chronic muscular tension and pain, improve circulation, increase joint flexibility, reduce mental and physical fatigue and stress, promote faster healing of injured muscular tissue, improve posture, and reduce blood pressure. It's also known to promote better sleep, improve concentration, reduce anxiety, and create an overall sense of well-being.

Massage isn't a replacement for medical care. If you're under a doctor's care, talk with them before you book.

04

Where are you located, and is there parking?

Asheville Massage and Wellness is at 211 Merrimon Ave. Suite 201, Asheville, NC 28801. Parking is free and there's plenty of it. The studio has two treatment rooms and sees clients from Asheville, North Asheville, and downtown Asheville.

All appointments take place at the studio. Call 828-373-9797 if you need directions once you're close.

05

Is the studio accessible?

Asheville Massage and Wellness is on the second floor, in Suite 201. Parking is free, and there's plenty of it right at the building. If you have specific access needs, call 828-373-9797 before you book and we'll talk it through.

Booking and policies

01

What are your hours?

Asheville Massage and Wellness is open 9 AM to 8 PM every day. The last session of the day ends at 8 PM, so the latest start time depends on how long your service runs. Current openings are on the booking page.

03

How do I book a couples massage?

You can book a couples massage online at Asheville Massage and Wellness, the same as any other service. If you don't see the time you want, call 828-373-9797 and we'll help you find one. We often have availability that isn't listed online.

04

How far in advance do I need to cancel?

Asheville Massage and Wellness needs 24 hours' advance notice to cancel an appointment. Cancel at least 24 hours ahead and you get a full refund. With less than 24 hours' notice, you'll be charged the full amount of the appointment. No-shows are charged the full amount as well.

We know unanticipated events happen. The policy is there so we can be fair to everyone on the schedule.

05

What happens if I show up late?

If you arrive late, your session may be shortened so the client booked after you still starts on time. Your therapist will decide whether enough time remains to start a treatment. You're responsible for the cost of the full session no matter how long the treatment actually runs.

Services and pricing

01

What kinds of massage do you offer?

Asheville Massage and Wellness offers deep tissue, Swedish, sports, hot stone, ashiatsu, and prenatal massage. Deep tissue works the tissue and muscle more, while Swedish and relaxation work is softer. Add-ons include reflexology, cupping, dry body brush, and sugar foot scrub.

If you're not sure which one you want, book what sounds closest and tell your therapist what's going on when you get here. Any recommendation you get from us is transparent, never pushy.

02

Do you offer anything besides massage?

Yes. Asheville Massage and Wellness also does facials, spa packages that combine a facial and a massage, waxing, and eyebrow shaping and color. Couples massage can be booked online, or call 828-373-9797 if you don't see the time you want.

03

What do your services cost?

First-time clients get $25 off a first massage or a first facial at Asheville Massage and Wellness. The monthly membership takes $25 off a massage or facial treatment. Current pricing for every service is listed on the booking page.

04

Do you accept insurance or HRA payments?

We provide itemized receipts for insurance reimbursement and accept HRA (Health Reimbursement Arrangement) payments for eligible services.

05

What products do you use?

We use 100% organic products in our essential oils and massage oils, and our facial line is One Love Organics. If you have a sensitivity or an allergy, tell your therapist before the session starts.

Membership

01

How does the monthly membership work?

The Asheville Massage and Wellness membership takes $25 off a monthly massage or facial treatment. It's month to month with no upfront fees, so you pay as you go. Members also get priority booking.

02

What do massage members get?

Massage members choose a deep tissue or Swedish full-body massage each month, with a hot towel treatment, a warmed eye pillow, and a back warmer included. A complimentary add-on comes with it: hot stones, reflexology, cupping, or dry body brushing.

03

What do facial members get?

Facial members get a combination facial each month plus a free combination upgrade with a machine: high frequency, rotating brush, light therapy, or ultrasonic wave. Organic skincare products and extractions are included.

04

Can I pause or cancel my membership?

You can pause your membership any time during the year with no fee or penalty. To cancel, email Asheville Massage and Wellness at ashevillemassageandwellness@gmail.com with 30 days' written notice.

If you need to reschedule within the same month, we need 24 hours' notice, and you may not get your regular therapist if they're already booked up for the month.

05

Can someone in my family use my membership?

A family member can come in and get $20 off under the membership option. If you'd rather keep it for yourself, you can put that toward a second service for yourself in the same month.
